Community Arts: Sofia Paperart Fest 2012

There are 102 artists from 29 countries taking part in this innovative show, which comprises 2D and 3D paper art works unrestricted by technique, style or material.

The Amateras Annual Paper Art Exhibition was established in 2009 to promote the exploration worldwide of paper as an art form.
According to the organisers, "the purpose of the exhibition is to stimulate the development of creativity and innovation, to exceed the ordinary imagination of using paper and to promote the exchange of ideas and sharing of original experiments."

The exhibition continues until June 2nd in the Art Alley Gallery, Sofia, Bulgaria.
More information available on their webpage www.amateras.eu

Two of my paperart works have been selected for inclusion in this show in Sofia, which is part of the Amateras Annual Paper Art Exhibition Bulgaria.

"Sense of Place" Art Exhibition in Tallaght University Hospital Dublin. June - September 2019.

Some weeks ago, I was honoured to be asked to prepare a hashtag body of artworks for hashtag exhibition by the family of the late Maeve Doyle. Maeve left a vast hashtag collection of hashtag paintings, hashtag drawings and hashtag poems, expressing a wish that her hashtag artworks be exhibited further afield. " Meeting of the Waters in Avoca". Watercolour. 30cms x 20cms Born in 1958 to a German refugee mother and an Irish father, Maeve was the youngest of their four children. Most of her life was spent living along the coastline of south Dublin, from which she derived much of her inspiration. She studied Fine Art Painting in IADT, known then in the 70’s as Eblana Avenue. She was a gentle and sensitive young woman, who was a true working artist expressing herself in a free and fluid manner through her several media. I was delighted to find the perfect hashtag art venue for her work in hashtag # tallaghtuniversityhospital , which is the National Cent...

Outdoor Group Art Exhibition in a Residential Care Setting Dublin

Arts in Healthcare is a little recognised, but expanding and important area in Ireland today, having the potential to transform healthcare experiences and societal health through the Arts. I was fortunate to gain valuable and enjoyable experience in this field while working as a Creativity Facilitator for a year in a Residential Care Hospital in Dublin in 2014.  This post gives a brief overview of a wonderful and innovative summer long Outdoor Art Exhibition which we curated in the hospital courtyard. Some of our residents chose to give a comment on their input into this show -  I have included these in itallics. "Pillowcase project" "Love" - Mosaic on wood. Comment by artist "Wow!"  Our "Outdoor Art Exhibition" was especially popular, so I am uploading some images of this event, which will give a flavour of some of the work we made. "Blue Tree" - Watercolour on weatherproofed paper. Commen...

Contemporary Group Exhibition and Events of Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012

" Contemporary Arts Exhibition" This was a very successful and varied show of Contemporary Artwork from Artists throughout the country.  The old Village Market next door to the Arts Centre at No 26 provided an ideal venue.  Running for the two weeks of the festival, it attracted people from far and wide.  Co-facilitated and Co-curated by Helen Farrell and Darragh Howard.  "Liubov's lovely sculptures --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012 I remember looking forward to Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012, and thinking at the time that that it would be a great experience to photograph, record and write about as many events as I could manage. ... Alas, it wasn't to be ..the festival ended up being a runaway success, but it literally ran away with itself for the duration of the 2 weeks , taking on a life of it's own. I ended up getting none of the above don...
