art exhibitions start in Ranealgh Arts Centre

..almost every two weeks, the walls in the centre get a fresh makeover ..with fresh art. Mostly these shows have been of emerging artists, and I  have so enjoyed being involved , even if only in a small way, in these.
The following ones come to mind.

Here is one of my best phone photos of Francoise O Sullivans very first solo show,
- " Les Arbres",  being opened by well known Irish artist Robert Ballagh. He spoke well of her very vibrant, lively, acrylic paintings of trees , and her unique visual language.I felt  her work was very uplifting and inspiring, especially as she had only started to paint earlier this year, while recovering from an illness. She simply started painting fro a photo she took of trees outside her hospital window , and this vision grew into a very impressive show of up to 40 paintings.

and another exhibition..of local artists.

This was a very varied and eclectic show, with a high standard of work , featuring Jean Doyles colourful oils of stories to be told, Roisin de Buitlears beautiful, fluid works in glass, with their own stories to tell, Katy Wakefields exquisitely observed miniatures of still lives, Eimer Carneys atmospheric seascapes,Mike Palmers comments in oil on canvas on the nonsense going on in this lovely country these days, Susan Earlys etchings of Rathmines church dome...and others , which were so well worth seeing .
I did some works on handmade papers for this show.

Mountpleasant Community Street Art Mural Project, Ranelagh Arts Festival.

One rainy, cold day in Spring 2013, a few of us were sitting in the back office of Ranelagh Arts Centre, wrecking our heads trying to think of new projects to put forward for Ranelagh Arts Festival later that year. Mountpleasant Mural Project was  an idea we felt might work. It would involve  collaborative  Community Paintings, which would eventually be on display as outdoor art in a local area. We proposed  that we would  create 4 -6   permanent outdoor 2D artpieces for the enjoyment of local community for display in Mounpleasant Park in Ranelagh, Dublin...and that we would involve the   the local RMDS Primary school, local community and park visitors in the creation of some of the pieces. At the end of it, we hoped to have  a few o utdoor permanent paintings in the park for all to enjoy, and  which would hopefully inspire community and other artists to the potential of projects like these in the city/country. We felt ...

Outdoor Group Art Exhibition in a Residential Care Setting Dublin

Arts in Healthcare is a little recognised, but expanding and important area in Ireland today, having the potential to transform healthcare experiences and societal health through the Arts. I was fortunate to gain valuable and enjoyable experience in this field while working as a Creativity Facilitator for a year in a Residential Care Hospital in Dublin in 2014.  This post gives a brief overview of a wonderful and innovative summer long Outdoor Art Exhibition which we curated in the hospital courtyard. Some of our residents chose to give a comment on their input into this show -  I have included these in itallics. "Pillowcase project" "Love" - Mosaic on wood. Comment by artist "Wow!"  Our "Outdoor Art Exhibition" was especially popular, so I am uploading some images of this event, which will give a flavour of some of the work we made. Contemporary Group Exhibition and Events of Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012

" Contemporary Arts Exhibition" This was a very successful and varied show of Contemporary Artwork from Artists throughout the country.  The old Village Market next door to the Arts Centre at No 26 provided an ideal venue.  Running for the two weeks of the festival, it attracted people from far and wide.  Co-facilitated and Co-curated by Helen Farrell and Darragh Howard.  "Liubov's lovely sculptures --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012 I remember looking forward to Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012, and thinking at the time that that it would be a great experience to photograph, record and write about as many events as I could manage. ... Alas, it wasn't to be ..the festival ended up being a runaway success, but it literally ran away with itself for the duration of the 2 weeks , taking on a life of it's own. I ended up getting none of the above don...
