Woodland Watercolours,series of 13 15cms x 15cms watercolours. Siofra exhibition.

For a time, I worked and exhibited artwork with Siofra - a group of artists, who regularly exhibited as a collective.

"Síofra Artists Group consists of nine artists who formed in 1995 with informal meetings to provide mutual support and to create a forum for discussion on art practice. In 1998 they decided to work together to mount collective exhibitions.

The members of Síofra are interested in exploring the tension between the individual’s freedom of expression and the constraints of working for a group show and to agreed themes. They seek to exhibit in a variety of venues, especially those that are as accessible as possible to the public.

Their first exhibition was, 'Home Truths' in 1998, held in two derelict maisonettes in Blackrock, Co. Dublin, with the support of Dun Laoghaire/Rathdown Arts Office. Since then they have exhibited in various venues including galleries, two universities, a hairdressing salon and several arts centres."

I did these 13 small watercolours for a Siofra exhibition where the brief was to do a series of works on 15cms x 15cms wood blocks.  I worked on paper, and showed these under glass.
I remember this was a tastefully curated exhibition , - a good curator can add so much to  a show.

Outdoor Group Art Exhibition in a Residential Care Setting Dublin

Arts in Healthcare is a little recognised, but expanding and important area in Ireland today, having the potential to transform healthcare experiences and societal health through the Arts. I was fortunate to gain valuable and enjoyable experience in this field while working as a Creativity Facilitator for a year in a Residential Care Hospital in Dublin in 2014.  This post gives a brief overview of a wonderful and innovative summer long Outdoor Art Exhibition which we curated in the hospital courtyard. Some of our residents chose to give a comment on their input into this show -  I have included these in itallics. "Pillowcase project" "Love" - Mosaic on wood. Comment by artist "Wow!"  Our "Outdoor Art Exhibition" was especially popular, so I am uploading some images of this event, which will give a flavour of some of the work we made. "Blue Tree" - Watercolour on weatherproofed paper. Commen...

Mountpleasant Community Street Art Mural Project, Ranelagh Arts Festival.

One rainy, cold day in Spring 2013, a few of us were sitting in the back office of Ranelagh Arts Centre, wrecking our heads trying to think of new projects to put forward for Ranelagh Arts Festival later that year. Mountpleasant Mural Project was  an idea we felt might work. It would involve  collaborative  Community Paintings, which would eventually be on display as outdoor art in a local area. We proposed  that we would  create 4 -6   permanent outdoor 2D artpieces for the enjoyment of local community for display in Mounpleasant Park in Ranelagh, Dublin...and that we would involve the   the local RMDS Primary school, local community and park visitors in the creation of some of the pieces. At the end of it, we hoped to have  a few o utdoor permanent paintings in the park for all to enjoy, and  which would hopefully inspire community and other artists to the potential of projects like these in the city/country. We felt ...

Contemporary Group Exhibition and Events of Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012

" Contemporary Arts Exhibition" This was a very successful and varied show of Contemporary Artwork from Artists throughout the country.  The old Village Market next door to the Arts Centre at No 26 provided an ideal venue.  Running for the two weeks of the festival, it attracted people from far and wide.  Co-facilitated and Co-curated by Helen Farrell and Darragh Howard.  "Liubov's lovely sculptures --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012 I remember looking forward to Ranelagh Arts Festival 2012, and thinking at the time that that it would be a great experience to photograph, record and write about as many events as I could manage. ... Alas, it wasn't to be ..the festival ended up being a runaway success, but it literally ran away with itself for the duration of the 2 weeks , taking on a life of it's own. I ended up getting none of the above don...
